hi! as far as i know u can still use it as long as it's not expired yet...once it expires u can't renew it on implied status...you have to wait for your OWP to renew it...snce when r u on implied status?

Hi ,

I read somewhere

According to a Service Canada agent, you are not covered under OHIP during the lapse in your status. Your OHIP coverage will be reinstated when they receive notification from Citizenship and Immigration Canada that an extension was granted.

Until then you would be responsible for your medical expenses. However, you can be reimbursed once your coverage is reinstated, hold on to receipts. It is unclear whether all expenses will be reimbursed, best to call the Service Ontario INFOline at 1-866-532-3161 for information specific to your situation.

Can somebody verify this ??

Theres a topic about implied status for OHIP....try to look for it. theres a process on how to renew even if youre on implied stat.

By: ATTY.J.Fabregas (Immigration Lawyer and Author of the Juana Tejada Law an Immigration Law that granting LIC applying for PR not to undergo second medical examination)

1. Go to local OHIP office or Service Ontario Office to renew OHIP.
2. Optional: Keep Transaction Record Confirming denial of coverage.
3. Prepare an "appeal" package containing:
-Cover letter stating caregiver's full name, date of birth,OHIP#,current address, daytime phone number or cell number.
-Provide copies of current and any previous work permit.
-State in your cover leter that the caregiver is eligible for OHIP renewal because the caregiver is currently on implied status, awaiting the new work permit.
4. Submit the appeal to the OHIP ELIGIBILITY REVIEW COMMITTE by facsimile to (613) 548-6557,Attention Sandra Berti.

Normal processing time for the decision is 30 days,it will be less if there is serious medical condition,or a pregnancy or so on.
Any pocket medical expenses incurred during that period will be reimbursed if eligibility is confirmed.

Hi. Is this also applicable for other temporary foreign workers who are implied status or only for LIC?
Thank you!
