Is my child going to be a Canadian citizen?

Hi,

I am a citizen of Canada and my wife is a PR. We are expecting our first child in June. As we have no support here during this time, I am planning to send my wife to India for this.

My question is

Is my child would be a Canadian citizen by birth?
What process do we need to follow to bring him here

How did you become a citizen? If you are a naturalized citizen or born in Canada, your child will be a Canadian citizen by descent as the first generation born abroad. For the purposes of acquiring citizenship by descent for a first generation born abroad, one of the two parents usually needs to be a naturalized Canadian citizen or born in Canada. Note that your child will need to have their child(ren) born in Canada for your grandchildren to be Canadian; citizenship by descent can only be acquired by the first generation born abroad, not subsequent generations also born abroad.
