Is Legal name change in application automatic non-routine

I sent a Ontario legal name change with my application (just eliminated one of my last names for simplicity) Do it will be automatic non-routine application and can take more time, or can be regular processing time.. I called yesterday to the call centre and they say I don't have any note on my file and is to early in the process to said. (file received January 26, AOR March 4th, my file still in Nova Scotia waiting to be transfer ro Hamilton

Hey OP!

I've also considered changing my legal name (to shorten it) before I applied for citizenship but one of my friends had a negative experience with it (it became non-routine).

However, I don't think it will automatically become non-routine, depending on several factors. One of the most important being:

Did you legally change your name in your province and have the name change certificate along with your citizenship application? Or did you just send a letter with the intent of a name change but have not officially changed it yet?

I did my legal name change in Ontario and I attached the name change certificate, I am really worry it will slow down my application .. How long did your friend have to wait..
