Is late admission possible?

Hello all,
I have just got my ielts score 6.5 and I am planning to go to Canada for Jan 2019 intake. I have met few agents/consultants in my areas and except one all were said that for Jan 2019 it is late and no university will be open for admission and I must wait for May or Sept 2019.

I want to know from you guys is it true that university usually closed their door by this time for Jan 2019?

I'm planning to go for Master in computer science

I believe they are correct, but you can check individual university websites as well.
