Dear members of this forum i am thinking of sponsoring my parents to Canada,my thing is that i have received walfare do to unemployment
when i first came to this country 2002 for 6 months than i quit after found a job.2006 got deported as a failed refugee claimant,2009 my wife sponsored me and came back to Canada.Currently employed and not in walfare,is it possible that immigration would deny me sponsoring my parent because i received social
assistance in the past?Will they look into it?Please help on this if you can.

the requirement is that u r presently not in receipt of it not sure if u have to pay back what u receive i doubt it

As long as you are not on welfare now and don't go on welfare while your parents' application is being processed - I don't see why your past history would be a problem. Note that you must also meet LICO requirements (low income cut off) to sponsor.

You just have to be earning enough money now and for the duration of your parents' sponsorship. If you received welfare in 2002, you can still sponsor now.
