I am about to submit my complete documents after recieving a letterfrom CIC. My 120 days deadline ends in september 2009. My daughter is about to leave the country for a year to pursue her studies in Japan. I am afraid that I will get letter requesting medical and passport submission before she is back. I am confused as to what should be done. I can not request change of address because she is a dependent in the application. Can any one help me.

in case of a valid reason, you can write a letter to them.

example of valid reason is - pregnancy, when it is not considered safe a per some studies for the baby to undergo X-Ray.

i believe medical can be done by any DMP in your current country of residence. so even if you are in your native country, your daughter in japan, and in the meantime you receive a medical request, your daughter can complete her medical by a DMP in japan. this is my understanding which others can confirm.

i Agree with Ja

i replied to the subject line... did not read through the full question.

you can courier the medical form of your daughter to her in japan and she can get her meds done over there... it will not be an issue at all.

but, her passport will be required at the stamping stage. You need to think about that.

Thanks for your reply. Should I consult the CIC about this now or should I wait and handle things as they happen?

no need to inform CIC about this

Go aheard with your application process When its time for medicals,They'll send you the forms and you can foward that for your daughter to her and she'll do it in Japan it's not a big deal. It just has to be a CIC designated medical practitioner. When its time for you to send your Passports for visa stamping. You can ask your daughter to make copies and keep to herself just in case and send the passport to you to send to CIC.
Good Luck.

Thanks you. This seems ok. But are you sure it will not be against her or us if she leaves the country without informing them.

You dont need to wait medical or any part of the process just because she is in japan.

Go ahead with the application. You must inform CIC if anyone involved in the application moves to another country. When she goes to japan you must inform CIC about that by letting then know her address in Japan. If, lets say, she lived there for more than 6 months and they had not completed your application yet they could ask for police report for her from Japan, but this would be expected. On the other hand if you dont inform CIC she is living in japan and they find out you could get in trouble.

Medicals: It is completely fine if they want medicals and she is in Japan. All you have to do is to send her medical form by mail. She can go to the designated medical office in Japan and have her medicals there. I done that (my application runs from USA and I did medicals in London, UK). No issue there.

For passport stamp, I dont see a problem if she use fedex or ups to send her passport to you, so that you can send all passports to CIC. Visa stamped you can to the same so she can have her passport back, unless your country has any issues with passports being sent by mail. Check it out
Good luck

Thank you so much. I think this answers my question. So I should tell CIC about new address my daughter will be having. Do you think this will delay procssing of my application?
