I'm asking this on behalf of a friend of mine. She has applied for a study permit extension 7 months ago and the application is under review. She has forgotten to declare a US visa refusal in this study permit extension.
For your information, this person has no previous visa refusal when she first came to Canada on her initial study permit. US visa refusal happened after she arrived in Canada. I do know there's an intensive info sharing between US and Canada, will this error induce her to get a 5-year ban of Canada?

Yes - there is information sharing between Canada and the US and Canada will most likely find out about the refusal. She should contact the visa office asap and let them know about this error.

Yes - it's possible she could receive a 5 year ban. More likely she would just be refused.

You mean rise a CSQ ? well there’s no document proof for previous US visa refusal. This person is using a US visa online enrolment system to renew visa annually; and from CPB- US visa enrolment website there’s no record of previous visa refusal.

It's her call. Safest option is to notify IRCC.

I wonder why it's taking so long for an extension ?
Maybe CIC already found out about it and transferred the application to local office for additional review ?

Extensions usually take 35+days on avg.

Perhaps it has something to do with this person’s country of origin and BGC also traveling history.

I don't think so.
The person was already in the country on a permit, they don't perform such checks for extensions.

If it was a PR application, I'd agree, since that timeline kinda matches to it.

Do you mean study permit extension long delay is due to misrepresentation ? Or study permit verification ?

It could mean anything.
Was the person going to school ?
Reasons for extensions ?
Did the person comply with study permit conditions ?

If a study permit extension is taking so long, it’s a bit of a concern.

Tried contacting CIC ?
What do they say ?

I’m not sure . I will forward your question to her. Thanks

Alright.

I went through the extension process myself, applied and got an answer within 35 days and that was in July 2019.

Some who applied with spouses, got delayed by 60 days etc.

But 7 months is a whole different thing.

I’d suggest contacting IRCC/ getting GCMS notes to find out what’s going on.

By the way what’s the maximum processing time for study permit extension

There’s no maximum timelines.

If an application is taking longer than 60 days there’s something going on.

Did CIC send any emails/correspondence related to the application?

Nope. Havent received any communications from IRCC.
I read some posts it said 9 months ?
And the applicant didn’t try to contact IRCC to find about the delay ?

I read one post about a 7 month delay, but that app was rejected.

Like I said, 9 months for a study permit extension is highly unusual, unless there’s something wrong and IRCC is investigating the matter.

Did applicant contact IRCC ?
Was it a paper application or online ?
People receive communication from IRCC on the 60th day or later, usually saying that file has been transferred to local IRCC office.

If nothing was recieved, maybe IRCC never got any application at all.
