HI

I did my landing in montreal and gave address of my brother to receive PR card. Now i have to go back to complete my project in Holland. is it possible that my brother could mail it to me in holland ?

Thanks

Kashifa

Hi,
It should be by secured courier only. Don't rely on ordinary mail.

Dear Kashifa,

Receiving & Sending the PR cards out-of-country, by a 3rd person, is illegal. However, many do so and is seen as a regular practice. In fact UPS has a 'box service', which they use it for this purpose; and at a certain additional cost also send the cards overseas.

But, the fact remains that it is illegitimate. Morover, if our PR cards are lost in transit, we have no recourse to get them issued again on that pretext. And thus, our re-entry into Canada shall become problematic. Even though we apply for a 'PRTD-A31 (3)' ['Temporary' PR Travel Document] at the local CHC, that might also go into a rigmarole.

The ideal solution is wait for 30 days at Canada, obtain the cards personally and then move out. Else, move out without applying for the PR cards and re-enter Canada with a PRTD; thereafter, apply for the PR cards at a later stage, upon re-entry.

End Note: As stated above, mailing the PR cards overseas is a practice though. So, you may do so but there's a risk, which u shoud be aware of.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !

thanks a lot for your prompt replies. But the problem is i thought that i would be able to receive PR cards within 1 month and i would go back with it. Now it s been almost 25 days and i have not receive any news from them.

1) Do i have to be physically here to get PR card ?

or if they send by mail then my family member can bring it to holland and give it to me and i would use it to enter again in canada.

Best Regards

Kashifa

Hi,

Yes indeed!!.

You don't have to stay here to receive the card. If there is a trusted person who can carry your PR Card, it is well and good. Only thing is that you should have it with you while entering back to Canada.

Good luck!!

Hi,

1. By another week's time u should anyway get the PR card.
2. No, u don't need to be 'physically' present, anyone can receive it, as it comes vide normal postage.
3. Good ! A family member can receive it & bring-it to u @ Holland. -Best option for u.

Regards.
