IS IT POSSIBLE TO GO TO CANADA SIDE OF BOARDER WITHOUT GOING THRU US?

my partner has his PR VISA now and he's already in canada legally. We called the local office in Alberta to book appointment to land but it's been a good 2MONTHS, 2 WEEKS , and no response.
we do not want to Flagpole for other reasons I cannot explain in this forum. I want to find out FROM THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY LANDED , whether it's
1. possible to go to the canadian side of ANY OF THE BORDERS without going through the US to flagpole. Sort of a u-turn? I am particularly interested in boarders in Alberta , BC, and Ontario.

Anybody with any information would be much appreciated.

To flagpole, you don't actually have to enter US. You just need to tell them at the border you want to land. do a search of this site to see more information.

Yes, you can arrive at the US border, tell them you do not wish to enter the US and they will turn you around. They might not like it though. If you have a warrant for your arrest in the US or something like that where you absolutely do not want any contact with the US immigration officers, I have seen somebody post that at least one border station, there is a turn off where you can turn around before you come to the US side but I do not remember who posted that or where that was supposed to be. Hopefully you can find someone who can tell you that. You can also contact cbsa at http://cbsa.gc.ca/menu-eng.html and ask them if there is anything they can tell you.

Thank you all for the response. There's absolutely no warrant issue . But we are looking foward to the possibility of U-Turning at the boarder without contacting the US side at all.

There is no way around it, you need either to enter the US or receive an administrative rejection from the US to return to "land" in Canada. If you really don't want to do that, wait for the appointment in Calgary.

Well it appears they are in Alberta, so there is only Edmonton and Calgary.

We 've called call centre about 5 times. Finally, the call centre agent told us last week that we should not call again and that her supervisor will contact the calgary office. after that, the supervisor will call us to let us know the date soon.

I think this whole idea of being able to land with your local office is some sort of political talk/ policy. what sense does this policy make if you have to wait 3-4 months to get a date?

The fact you are unable to flag pole is really not the Government of Canada's fault. For what ever reasons you have for not going to the Border is your problem.

You have this option of landing Inland, take that as a blessing in your situation and wait the required time. There are queues and you just have to wait your time, given that most Inland IO's have budget restraints and are unable to employ the amount of staff needed.

It is true it is a great convenience to be able to land inland, especially for people who are far from the border and can not just drive there in an hour or two. It is not that long ago this started to be an option.

So now you have the option of landing inland even if you do have to wait a bit. If you did not have this option at all and for whatever reason are a persona non grata in the US, you still have another option and that is to fly out on vacation to a country other than the US and land as you return. You can still do that.
