Hello,
I am wondering if anyone knew if it is ok to sent in photocopies of our bank statements of our joint accounts with our bank account number covered? We also have our tax income statements filed jointly together, and would like to know if it is ok to cover some of the personal identity info etc.? What about life insurance? In general, is it ok to cover some of the personal info on our supporting documents? I am a little bit worried about how secure it will be once our documents get processed.
Thank you.

I certainly did. I figured that it was clearly a bank statement, with my name visible, and the balance visible. No need to see the actual account number, and a real security risk to leave it visible.

I didn't do it. I guess because a) it didn't even occur to me :-[ and b) bank accounts are protected by passwords etc so should be fairly safe (I hope). But I also thought that by signing the application we automatically give right for CIC to access our personal details anyway. I could be mistaken.

I didn't also, I really didn't have any expenses that absolutely had to be hidden. I figured that it would look like I'm hiding something going in my way blacking things out. Left the bills/statements as is.

Now they can see my expensive spending habits ;)

I blacked out the account numbers on our credit card statements. I am not comfortable with that information floating around out there, I don't care how secure CIC promises my information will be.

It's fine to black out account numbers. Blacking out transactions might be an issue, especially if subscribe to "Monthly Mercenary Magazine" or "The Weapons of Mass Destruction Chronicle". :P

I wonder how they would feel about a contribution to Wikileaks? ;)
