Is it legal to start a company and then hire yourself?

This kind of trick works in US: your friend starts a company, hires you, you apply for a work visa and then immigrate. You send money to the company's account and the company pays them to you.

Is it legal in Canada? It will be a serious company, not a fake. I will pay taxes and work as a programmer, but as a self-employed one.

Entrepreneur immigration is closed, so I'm searching for another options.
