I'm confused about the level of detail that I need to go into in my Letter of Explanation.

For eg. is it advisable to explain the small details like: "The reason I put my house number in the Street number field is because it didn't fit in the Apartment/unit number field after I had entered my unit number".

I will explain a gap in the address history - due to an international flight I was taking. But I'm not sure how much I should explain the discrepancies in the fields etc.

Please help?

You can do that if you can,you wont lose anything. I would personally recommend you do so

Thanks! I did read somewhere on the forum that the longer the better.

Follow-up question: Does the visa officer read the letter of explanation only if there is a discrepancy noticed in the application or do you think they read it fully independent of the application?

If its uploaded then apparently you need to clear something to the officer so they read it regardless
