Hi Guys,

I have had a profile in the IEC 2018 pool since it opened in November. My boyfriend from NZ (I am from UK) has received his visa and I am still waiting.

I noticed on my profile the other day that under "Do you plan to do a work placement or internship in Canada as part of your studies?" Mine says Yes (complete mistake) But then I have put 'No' under are you registered with a College or Uni. I am worried this is affecting my chances of a place as they might look at that and not consider me for an invite to apply.

I am thinking about withdrawing and resubmitting a new profile but I am worried that that will affect my chances also. I know it is random selection but does that mean my profile will lose its place in whatever system it is in? Knowing my luck I would withdraw and I might have got an invite the next day!

So I guess A) would my mistake in my profile affect my chance of an invite (do they even look at it before they send invites?) and B) Would resubmitting affect my chances?

Thanks!

Laura

The draws as you say are random and unlikely they spend any time looking at them before sending out invites. Then again who really knows how much automation there is behind the scenes that looks for any out of line questions that have been checked even though the question is not relevant for UK applicants given UK does not have a COOP option.

Impossible to say if withdrawing from the pool and entering again will make any difference in your chances. Previous years people I believe have entered the pool day one and others joined 2/3 months later got their invites before the first ones in so there is no real logic in getting an invite which they seem to issue based on their capacity to process.
