Is english language proficiency test mandatory for postdocs with an offer of employment number?

Hi,
I have been offered a postdoc position in a Canadian University. I will be applying for the Employer specific LMIA exempt work permit from outside Canada. I wanted to know if a English language proficiency test (such as IELTS) is mandatory for the application even though it has not been mentioned in the job description.

No! I got my work permit as a postdoc researcher without a language test!
