Common law PR is waiting approval.
Last work permit expired, over stayed under 30 days. Lawyer explained had 30 days to apply for restoration visa/work permit which was refused. Order to leave immediately which i did and re entered. Border guard gave till jan 1 again to leave.

Would having my common law partner with me and all prove of our relationship documentation prove a better case on re entry?

You left Canada under a departure order and then immediately re-entered? You're braver than I would have been...
I'm surprised that you were allowed in at all. I don't think anyone could guess on your chances next time as you are clearly on the "list" now.
