Dear Altruists,

I am applying for study permit online and my semester is going to start in September.

I saw there is a significant differences in document requirement in online application and paper submission. I would be very glad if anyone can share his/her experience. I have two particular questions and I would be grateful if you can give any answer:

1. I have done my medical assessment and trying to get police clearance certificate. I was wandering where can I upload these documents in online portal since I did not find any specific one.

2. I heard from another applicant that it takes more time in processing application online. is it true?

Thanks
Hasan

Hi Hasan

I found CIC uploaded new application document checklist, but there is no list (optional document) like e- medical, previous list there is one option for that, may be for that reason in online application there is no option for e- medical doc upload space.

There is an option to upload medicals when filing online . Indid it today and uploaded

Hi Jasmeen,

Thanks for your updates. Yes, I do not see any option to upload Police clearance certificate. However, I could get an option for uploading medical exam report IMM1017b upfront medical report form after modifying my answer on "Did you take CIC authorized medical assessment in last six years?" from "No" to "Yes".

I did take medical exam few days ago, yet to receive police clearance certificate. I am very nervous as time is running so fast. Hopefully I could apply by middle of May.

All the best for your application. Hope we shall hear good news soon.

Hi Marjuk,

Thanks for your question. I am from Bangladesh.

I have applied and have been selected for a 2 years Master's program in a British Columbia's University. Hence, I am applying for a study permit.

Hi ruralguye5,

Thanks a lot. Because of your reply, I checked the answers of the questions I was asked about medical assessment and found the portal which wasn't there previously. I just selected "No" to "Yes", as I did not take the medical test when I opened the application portal.

However, I could not find how shall I submit Police Clearance Certificate (PCC). Did you have to provide PCC? I am still not sure if I need to submit it because if we apply in Singapore office through paper submission, they will ask for PCC. However, there is no individual option for PCC for study permit. Is it a different case for online submission? But I am thinking of submitting it in "Letter of Explanation" just in case they ask for it.

Thanks again. All the best to you.

I am from India and there is no need of PCC for Indian students and as I remember , there wasn't any tab for PCC too .

In online portal I also haven't seen any option. Still thinking of submitting it though.

Hi I am applying for a study permit from Bangladesh too and I was wondering what papers do I have to submit after medical examination. I am preparing to do it. Will the panel physician also have to send some documents?
Moreover, can anyone tell me just how much money you showed or will show- just how much is alright for application to be approved? In addition other than bank statement what other documents do I need to give? Is showing teaching assistant ship considered funding from the university?
Lastly is it alright to give a printout of my TOEFL score from the ETS website and notarize it? I haven't ordered for an Examinee report and doing so will be too time consuming now. I don't know if original is needed or whether notarized will do.
I need to apply soon! So please any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi Alanis0176,

I am trying to answer your question as per my experience. I am going to apply for study permit in this month.

1. You can either take medical exam after submitting visa application which Visa officer will let you know or take up-front medical assessment to reduce time. You can take your passport to any authorized panel doctors. You will get the list here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx
They will give you a form which you shall provide with your application.

2. (a) Visa officer assess proof of financial support: Tuition fee+CAD 10,000 (for living expense) - Scholarship (any form of financial support from your institution)
(b) You can provide bank statement, parents' bank statement (a affidavit on your favor is needed), FDR, Provident fund, Your and parents' assets (although liquid money is more convenient), Student loan, internal and external Scholarships etc.
(c) I guess TA-ship will be considered as your university support. But it has to be stated and signed in university pad, and it has to be written how much you will receive.

3. It is better to provide original copy if you are applying through paper. If you are going for online application, you can just scan and upload your original copy.

Thank you for your detailed response. And while looking through other posts a lot of students mentioned about an SOP. According to the Singapore office's instructions we require to provide a study plan answering the questions they have asked. Is there any other requirement such as the SOP that I am not aware of or is it not required for Bangladeshi applications?

Your study plan can be viewed as your SOP (Statement of Purpose). It's the same thing, rather if you want to submit the SOP you had submitted to the University.

Hi hasan, do you have any idea that anyone has asked for interview from Canadian high Commission for study permit application at Dhaka. Today they asked me for that, i am little afraid, i don't know what they are looking for, I am full funded student but have long study gap but enrolled for Mphil program in 2012 and continuing.

please pray for me.
