I wish to bring a relative to Canada under the "lonely Canadian" program. This program stipulates that I do not have children or parents anywhere in the world, or a spouse or common-law, which I do not. However, both my brother and his wife died and left a 7 year old orphan who was consequently adopted by his older step brother, my sister-in-law son from her previous marriage.
Is this child an orphan? If he is, he would impede me from bringing my relative even though I do not have the intention to bring him to Canada.

No, the child is not your family member and will not impede a sponsorship app.

Than you very much for the reply. It makes sense, but I wanted to make sure. I suppose they will ask me to produce some proof of this adoption?

No. The child is not your family member, so nowhere do you have to include any information about him/her.
