Hi

Me and my brother are planning to sponsor my parents but my mom is having a heart problem and diabetic but shes taking medicine for maintenance. her Dr. said that she don't need a heart surgery at the moment. can any one help me to my queries so we have idea before we go through coz we don't want to waste time, 3-5 years is a long wait.

If immigration thinks she will cause excessive demand on health care, she will be refused. Since peoples health usually doesn't get much better with old age, I think you should try to sponsor her now. It is not like you are just sitting on a chair watching the clock for 5 years, waiting for it to go through. You are going about your daily life as if you had not sponsored her at all and so is your mother. If it goes through, she will get her PR and can come and live with you. If not, there will be nothing more lost than if you had not tried to sponsor her in the first place. Why not try?

hi leon

thanks for the response, cause we want to file it right now but we are in doubt. My mom have to undergo surgery but not right now cause my mom doesn't want to go for her surgery shes not prepared yet and we still saving money for the operation maybe in 2 years. were just wondering if she still could come without surgery or she have to undergo first to clear her heart problems before she go for medical exmas.

She will not be asked for medicals until after you have been approved to sponsor her and Mississauga is currently taking 41 months just to approve sponsor for parents, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp

So in that case, if she does get the surgery in 2 or 3 years, she will be fit before immigration will ask her to have the medicals.

Nobody can really tell you if she would be approved to go if she did not have the surgery. Is it certain that she will need it?

She could also try going for a medical with one of the Canada designated medical practitioners, you can find a list at http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medicalinfo.aspx?CountryID=2009&CountryName=Philippines and ask their opinion of her chances of immigration with or without the surgery. They have the guidelines used by immigration so they should be able to give an idea although they might not be able to guarantee anything.
