Is a Clearing Agent Required to Clear my Shipment

I recently immigrated and have a 20ft container on the way.

I have the Goods to Follow Form duly stamped, however the shipping agent is requesting for the name of our clearing agent; do I need to employ a clearing agent or can the shipping line simply contact me once the shipment arrive while I make provisions to truck it to my home?

You need either yourself or hire a person to clear customs before your goods can be trucked to your new residence in Canada.
