Just need to be clear on requirements:

Am a potential foreign student and wish to confirm as follows:

- 2 year masters program and 1 year work experience subsequently?

OR

- Look for a 1year pre-maters program and follow up with a 1 year masters program, and 1 year work experience?

Which of the above will make me eligible to apply?

If the Masters program is at least 16 months long(4 semesters), you will be eligible for CEC after 1 year of skilled work experience. Not sure about the 2nd option, may be others can clarify.

Thank you SenoritaBella... So what happens if I graduate from a 1 year masters programme? Can I apply after 1 year of work experience?

I think you will be eligible for CEC (graduate stream) with 1 year Masters program if you previously completed another program in Canada before the Masters. I don't remember the exact wording, so please read the CEC guide for more information.

There are 2 streams for CEC:
1. graduate stream - 2 years(4 semesters) mandatory and 1 year full-time skilled work experience
2. worker stream - 2 years full-time skilled work experience

If you graduate from a 1 year Masters program, you will have to work 2 years first before you can apply under the worker stream(this is under the current rules). There are plans to reduce the work experience for workers to 1 year as of January 2013. If that happens, you will be eligible to apply for CEC under the worker stream after your 1 year experience.

this is directly from CIC at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/graduates.asp

"If you want to apply based on your Canadian credentials, you must complete either:

- a full-time Canadian post-secondary educational program of at least two years or
- a one-year Master's program (certificates and diplomas cannot be counted) and an additional year of education, obtained in Canada, before admission into the one-year program (for a total of two years). "

so if you do 1 yr of pre-masters program AND a 1 yr masters program, it seems like you could full under the 2nd scenario. maybe others can comment b.c im not 100% positive
