Hi all,

Myself and my boyfriend are considering working in Canada temporarily. We both have FETAC diplomas (www.fetac.ie ) in Computing & Business Studies and both have just over 2 years experience with full time work. I have visited a few Canadian job sites and i was just wondering how likely it is that we would be offered a job? Neither of us can afford to travel to Canada for interviews etc , so we were wondering is it possible to travel to Canada as a tourist and then apply for a work permit when we arrive?

Because of the economic climate in Ireland, both neither of us can be sure we will still have our jobs in six months time, hence or reason for wanting to relocate to Canada to work. We want to make sure that we do everything above board and remain legal in every aspect of applications. We will definatley be returning home once things improve here and we have no interest in applying for citizenship in Canada.

Any advice or information is greatly appreciated.

Best to look for jobs online, fax CV's and better if you can actually call the prospective employers for a chat, get them interested. If you have lived together for 12 months or more, you qualify as common law so only one of you would need a job, the other can get an open permit.
