IRCC Forms: Should I use the Ceremony Date or Registration Date from my Indian Marriage Certificate?

Hi everyone,

I need some clarification on which date should I use to provide information on marital status

I was recently married in India, and my Marriage Certificate lists two different dates:

• Date of the Marriage Ceremony: April 23, 2026 (The day the actual wedding took place and customs were performed).
• Date of Registration: April 25, 2026 (The day we appeared before the registrar and the paperwork was officially filed).

My questions:

1. Should I use the ceremony date or the registration date on my official forms ?
2. If I use the ceremony date, will the visa officer be confused when they look at the "Registered" date at the bottom of the certificate? Should I include a Letter of Explanation (LOE)?

Has anyone else been in this exact situation with an Indian marriage certificate? What date did you use, and did you have any issues?
