Hi,
I have applied for the Canadian PR through the express entry FSW Outland stream and my application is in IP2. So I should expect the PPR soon (AOR Sept 2018). Can my friend apply for a tourist visa as soon as I get my PPR stating the reason as helping me set up my home/life in general in Canada when I move there? If so, what documents should he and/or I produce?

1. Would it be better for me to send him an invitation or for him to apply on his own?

2. If i invite him, how much bank balance above my regular PR requirement should I show?

3. Is there anything else that I should worry about?

My friend has a stable IT job here and has a house. He can produce his salary slips, a letter from his employer, his utility bills etc.

Thanks.

In my opinion, your friend should just apply with tourism/sightseeing reasons. It’s not a typical reason to visit Canada.

A good TRV application is less about the reason to visit Canada than it is why the applicant should leave (ties to home/resident country).

I fear that he may not have sufficient bank balance and as such I am thinking of sponsoring him by inviting him with me. Is that fine? As you suggest, I can change the reason on my invitation letter.

It would be much better if your friend can show he has enough finances on his own to pay for the trip.

Also - I would recommend he visit after you after you have established yourself in Canada and have lived here a few months.

I understand. Probably I would stick to inviting him after a few months I have lived there.
