Pre-Assessed..
Hi everyone,
Can anyone that had to do the interview applying outland tell me when they were called, after sending application and getting the sponsor approved?

Does it change based on the Embassy?
In my case I'm going through Rome, but I'd like to get an idea from any other interview.

PS: And what does AOR mean btw?

Thanks

Interviews are either done at the visa office itself or in the field under some cases - but it is CIC that determines the location and timing of interviews.

AOR = "Acknowledgement of Receipt"

Sorry, what do you mean "in the field"?

In some cases a visa office might cover many countries. In such cases, they may conduct interviews in the specific country - the CIC officer schedules interviews and travels to a temporary location in that country to conduct the interview.

It depends upon the visa officer that he/she wants to conduct an interview or not and obviously on the case itself.
Sometimes they want to know the principal applicant(a formal interview) and sometimes its about the relationship that genuine is the relationship.
It all depends how you present the application.
Well i thought i have presented enough proofs of the relationship being genuine but still i have an interview. My VO is Ottawa.

I didn't think Ottawa itself performed interviews and instead referred it to a US office for those.

So, since I am in Canada on a TWP, even if I apply outland, are there any chances I could be interviewed in Canada eventually?

No.

They will conduct it in your home country or in Rome.

Thanks compujtergeek. The reason I'm asking is because my girlfriend and I (she is sponsoring me) are going to send our application this week.

And we are also planning to visit my family in Italy at the end of May. My main concern is that they could schedule an interview eventually, so that's why I was initially asking about the usual wait time in between the AOR, and when the interview is requested.
Do you know how this work? How much in advice do they let you know when you'll need to show up?

They generally seem to give 4-12 weeks notice.

You do realize that interviews if you are from a visa exempt country are unusual, right?
