I am a student pursuing Bachelor of Technology(Computer Science) in Mumbai, India and wish to obtain an internship in data science in Canada. Do I need give any exams such as 'ielts'? If so and I manage to get an internship in Canada, what kind of a work permit/visa will I have to apply for?

If you are studying outside of Canada, you should assume an internship in Canada will not be possible.
To take up an internship in Canada, you would need to get a work permit. To get a work permit, your employer would need to get an approved LMIA which is a 4-6 month process and requires your employer to prove no Canadian can be found for the role. No employer is going to be willing to go through the LMIA process for an internship.
