so then those who were interested to become a PR through education route should have gone there....isnt it? Why they went somewhere else (knowingly that) this does not help.

I may have disconnect, if before express entry (prior to Jan 2015), canadian education was given preference to become a PR. if Yes, with the change in the system, that sentiment should be honoured.

I believe those who have higher level of Canadian education above bachelor or French or Siblings with actual score in the 300s will almost be guaranteed to get ITA and PR as the government wants these types of applicants to get picked up.

Prior express entry, it was low-level course duration of at least 2 years, ultimately leading to 3-year post-graduate work permit in order to gain only 1 year of Canadian work experience in any NOC (except C) not related to field of study almost guarantee PR. It was making no sense where the system was being abused putting the reputation at stake. It was too simple to get PR.

The government wants to fix that in order to seek the best and the brightest with regards to international students as before someone with say, 1-year master in law had almost no chance to qualify for PR than some engaged in low-level 2-year course.

You are wrong. In fact, in some provinces like Québec only studies almost guarantee PR because you are eligible to apply directly under separate stream without any work experience requirement. So I don't think it will be a scam. Further, Canadian work experience presently awards more points than foreign work experience; thus I don't see where the issue is as it can be inferred CEC are already attributed more points for Canadian work experience.

The problem is that it is not the same thing for education as Canadian education and foreign ones are given the same amount of points. It should have been more as is presently the case for work experience.

Yes they really are one of the key of the Canadian economy - meaning that they are good and valued clients of the whole Education Industry in the country. However same, as Canada will not start giving away citizenships to all users of canadian gas, cars, furniture or maple syrup, just because they buy lot of it, they will not hand it over to anybody that has enough Money to pay studies.
The big advantage of international students is the networking that they have on the spot (and many of them use it very effectively). Other advantages were described above.

I do understand, some that now face too low score below ITA, came for studies in 2010 or 2011, when the system was much easier and studies over there were practicaly ticket to the PR. System has changed in the mean time (thats life), and for them to react on the changes.
the international graduates situation right now is one of the main reasons behind the revision fo EE entry. That says a lot. even if they will give them just 5 points. they government is taking time to revise it because THEY KNOW SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT.

This way visitor visiting Canada would also be demanding PR....somehow they have also invested in Canada by staying in Canada for few days to weeks.....bought local goods....contributed to local economy....and so on....
im sorry but you are going out of topic, we are talking about students not visitor. visitor are not even able to work legally. not the same thing.

the international graduates situation right now is one of the main reasons behind the revision fo EE entry, the conservatives thought this new EE system would not have consequence but here we are with a system that is consired by many people as unfair for students, french people and siblings.

the new government the liberal party is been revising the system and promised changes during their campaing and i honestly consider thay they were able to gain popularity beacuse of this campaing promises and contributed to their victory. they now have to make a move and do something or this is never going to end.

this is correct. quebec cares about its international graduates not beacuse the invested in a canadian education , this is not a money matter for them cuz they know that when you have a country with demographic problems( very low population in certain cities) problems with recognition of newcomers' foreign credentials, you would do your best to keep the ones who have a canadian degree and canadian work experience.

True; anyone can get visitor status and you cannot do anything with that type of visa. But Québec which is always nice awards some points if you had ever visited the province for at least 2 weeks. I regret I did not go to Québec; it would have been more straightforward as they are very lenient. Could you imagine as a province with French as only the official language, the French language test is not even compulsory but rather optional in order to get points.

I believe people who had siblings and French would be the preference for Canada as the government has been committed to them. But for international students, I'm not sure if the points for education would be enough.

correct. students can work and most of them have worked and study a the same time.i think having a canadian degree should matter at some point, specially when there are so many issues concerning recognition of foreign credentials

I think they are changing the whole system and even the requirements in express entry; that's why they are taking so long.

GUYS!!!!!!

I would like to ask whoever is going to be attending the meeting next weekend to send an email to internationalstudentsorganizer@gmail.com and sign up.
I already have people signing up from the Facebook event and need to count how many of us are going to be in the meeting.

Please send an email and let me know. All of the important facts will be shared at that meeting. There is obviously a concern and we need to make sure we are supporting each other while speeding things up. As many of you have said, the government is most likely working on it. In the meantime, some of us have visas about to expire and don't know how to plan it well so we don't have to leave the country.

PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL AND SIGN UP!
