Insurance for trip to US

I'm in a bit of a grey area for health insurance and wanted to see if anyone has any advice.

I'm a US citizen, but was living in the UK for 11 years when I was granted PR
- Arrived in Canada April 17th
- Only just registered for provincial coverage (Quebec) so I'm in the waiting period until October 1st.
- My husband (who is British) and I have purchased Destination Canada insurance to cover us in the meantime.

We're going on a family holiday to the US for 10 days in August and I can't seem to figure out how to get temporary health/ travel insurance -- Destination Canada appears to cover my husband in the US but not me (side trips benefit: "while you are travelling outside Canada, except for your country of origin/citizenship or any other country, where you are eligible for a government healthcare").

I can't seem to figure out where/how to get coverage in the US as an American (but who hasn't been resident there for 14 years!) and definitely don't want to go without any insurance because I've heard too many horror stories.

Have any other Americans dealt with this situation? Any advice?
