- I am currently in Canada as a tourist visiting my partner (my sponsor), and I was not expecting the process to move this quickly (though I am very very grateful).
- I have had a flight booked to San Francisco (to visit my dad) scheduled to leave Canada on July 24th, and not returning until mid-September.
- My question is, do I respond to IRCC NOW while I am in Canada, and explain that I will be leaving? Or do I wait until I am in San Francisco on Thursday to respond and just say that I am in the US, but will be in Canada in September. My main concern is that if I do respond now, while I am in Canada, me leaving will somehow delay the process or flag my progress.
- In their email, they are clear that if I am not in the country when I do respond, they cannot issue a COPR to do a virtual landing (makes sense), but that they also have a backlog of emails and that it might take longer than normal to process. My concern would be that it would take longer than the expiration date of my COPR to generate, even though my application tracker says it won't expire until May 20, 2026.
- I appreciate anyone's input and thoughtfulness when considering my inquiry. I am forever grateful at how relatively straightforward this process has been, and how wonderful online communities have been in helping each other with this process. I hope all of you are having a safe and successful immigration process as well. Thank you <3
