Is it unusual for spouse-in-canada class ("inland") applications to be sent in when the foreign spouse is only here on a six-month temporary visitor permit. My partner is from a visa-exempt country so doesn't even have a visa--only an eTa. Is this pretty common? or, on the other hand, is it unusual (perhaps even complicating things or making the application difficult)?
I'm asking because I'm realizing that even though we have lived together for months at a time, and been doing long-distance relationship for 2+ years, that we have basically no bills (utility, phone, etc) with both our names on it. Nor do we have own property, nor a vehicle. And at the moment I can't even get my partner's name on the lease/rental agreement of my apartment (but that could change soon).
Every time we lived together during our relationship, each of us was just a "tourist" / visitor to the other's country. Now, I'm thinking this could make it more difficult to satisfy some of the criteria for "proof of relationship: proof of living together" section of the sponsorship application. Is it okay to show on an inland application proof that we lived together in a home outside Canada?
I'd love to hear from others who are, or have been, in the same situation and how they satisfied this.
