hey guys, my initial inland spouse application got returned (was sent in October2021 and returned in Feb 2022) I corrected mistakes and resent the application form.
Now my spouse's study permit expires on May 26 2022, Consultant advised applying for a visitor record to stay in Canada and the consultant said it will be approved because my spouse is giving birth to our child on April 23, 2022, and Alberta Health Card covers it until May 26 2022 (thats when study permit expires). Now my question is if we will apply for a visitor record 4-5 days before her study permit expiration and I am wondering will my spouse be able to receive Alberta Health Card?
Has anyone had a similar experience?

Better to call Alberta Health directly and ask, but is there a reason why you want to apply 5 days before?

5 days before my spouse's current status expiration to win time while the inland spouse application is under the process. also that's what consultant advised

Alberta Health already send us mail advising that my spouse's current status expires in May 26 2022 and she needs to get some status so that to be able
to extend Alberta Health

Has you spouse been studying full-time? Is she graduating this spring/summer? If your wife has already graduated she may not qualify for health coverage even if she has a valid health card. Did she apply for PGWP after graduating? Is she working? Having a valid health card does not always mean you are entitled to access healthcare.

If your wife stopped studying in December 2021 she should really should have reapplied for a health card as the spouse of a resident of Alberta (PR or citizen) already.

my spouse graduated as it was a short full time Tuesday-Friday 9am-4pm program from October 4th 2021 till Feb 26th 2022.
Her study permit is valid until May 26 2022 and her Alberta Health Coverage is until May 26 2022.
As per college, she doesn't qualify for PGWP because the program was short. She is not working she is pregnant at 35 weeks. April 23rd is the due date.
Her Health Card is valid until May 26, 2022, and it covers labor but after labor, she won't have any coverage for about 5-6 months or until getting PR

So after the expiration of Alberta Health Coverage, we can reapply as spouses of a resident of Alberta?
Initially, we sent the inland spouse applications back in October 2021 but got our documents returned in Feb 2022 because of several mistakes. in March we corrected everything and sent the application and documents back to Mississauga now it is gonna some time.

Did AHP know she was only studying for 4 months? Normally for these short programs you don’t qualify for health coverage especially for months after the program is completed. Usually you need at least a 12 month study permit to qualify for Alberta health insurance. If she didn’t qualify you could be charged after the fact so it is important to sort this out. As the spouse of a PR she should qualify.

My spouse applied for AHP based on her study permit which expires in May 26 2022. She got Alberta Health Card until her study permit expiration date and there is no issue.
As the spouse of a citizen this, I will find out from the registry.
