Hello guys, we are half way through our inland spousal sponsorship, I am the main applicant. I just got a new job here in Canada, it requires me to be away from my family, it's a 5hrs drive. Is it okay to take the job and visit home on the weekends? Can being away from my family affect our application?

Yes, that's fine.

Please, how sure are you about this ? I dont want to screw things up. Do you know anyone who has done this?
I can't say I'm 100% sure. It is a bit of a grey area about where you are actually "living" since you will still have your home with your family as well as living somewhere else for work I guess. I would argue that you still are living together since I assume you will keep most of your possessions at your home with your family and would be keeping that as your normal mailing address and you are still paying a rent or mortgage with your spouse. We had a similar case with our application, we applied as common-law and we were outland but for 3 months I was staying at a place near my work 2 hours away during the week.

Thanks for the information, I intend not to change my address at all but my worries are with CRS and Service Canada. I really don't know how much details they share with IRCC. I dont want a misrepresentation situation. Are you PR now ?

We've had decision made and passport request and are now just waiting for the COPR. I think because your application is already in progress it shouldn't be an issue.

Just wanted to clarify that the conditions for inland and outland are different so your situations aren't really the same. Would tend to agree that it should be fine. It is a bit of a grey area but would make sure you return every weekend to show that is your primary home.
