Hello everyone,

I would like to know how many months the whole application takes. My work permit is about to expire within 5 months. Right now, my background check is going on as I submitted my file last October. I am supposed to go to India this year for some family events and other important things. So, my other question is, am I allowed to leave Canada based on my TRV, which is valid until 2029? Will officers ask for either a work permit or a PR card when I return to Canada?

Please let me know these questions, as I am very confused and I am yet to book my flight tickets.

Thanks.

Approx 24 months from the time you submit your application assuming you are outside of Quebec.

If you are planning to travel outside of Canada, keep the length of that trip to 3 weeks or less if it's before you get PR.

Hello, thanks for your reply. But I submitted my application last year before it was amended to be for 24 months. Also, if I have a valid TRV, can I leave Canada even if my work permit has expired? and can I travel if I have received a bridge work permit?

You submitted an inland application. You are supposed to live in Canada with your sponsor.

As posted, keep your travel short. And if you leave after your current work permit expires and before your OWP approval is received, you will not be under maintained status. (I don't think it's called a "bridge work permit". I think that term is for other PR applications). So when you return to Canada, you will need to to wait for your OWP is approved before you can work again.

Current processing times apply to your application regardless of when you submitted it.

Yes, you can leave Canada for a short trip. You've asked this question several times over the last few months and it has been answered each time. Not sure what additional assurance you need at this point.

Yes, I did once when I submitted my application. I asked again coz I was not sure about the TRV and the expired work permit. Thanks for your reply.
