Hii,

I was wondering which visa office to send my spouses application? We live in Canada and he has a work permit but he is from the Netherlands. Do we send it to the Vienna office in Austria or the Ottawa office?

I realize now that the inland application is sent to Ottawa.

HOWEVER, question 4 on the generic application form asks "Immigration Office requested for processing this application". I am unsure of what to put here. In the guide it says:

"Indicate the name of the Immigration Office which serves:
-your country of nationality, or
-the country in which you are residing, provided that you have been lawfully
admitted to that country for at least one (1) year.

Note: Do not select the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) as the immigration office
requested to process your application. Although you may be required to submit
your application to the CIO, you must indicate the name of an appropriate visa
office using the criteria above."

The country of nationality would be the Netherlands. The visa office for the Netherlands is Vienna. But he has a work permit for 1 year for Canada in which he tends to work while he waits for approval for his application so would it be an office in Canada in that case?

Can someone please help clear this up? I really don't want to delay processing because of one question answered wrong.

ALL Inland applications are sent to CPC-M (Mississauga).

The entire application package (everything that you are sending) goes to Mississauga, not Ottawa.

Thanks, I understand now that it is sent there... but do I put Mississauga as the answer to question #4? Or do I put Vienna?

You do NOT put Vienna because an Inland application is processed entirely In Canada, hence Inland, or In-Canada application.

Thanks for your help!

I thought it was extremely weird to put Vienna there.... but this is not an application to second guess lol.

It would help if CIC didn't use a generic application for the Inland application. That same form is used on the Outland application, as well as other applications I'm sure.

Would it kill them to make it just a bit clearer for all of us?!?!?!

If applicant is from Vienna (so is visa-exempt to Canada), you should really be considering an OUTLAND application which will most likely be MUCH faster. Not much reason to do inland.

He is from the Netherlands yes, but he is living in Canada. Therefore we thought to choose the inland application.

And it would be EXTREMELY nice of them to make things a little more clear, lol. Not only that, it would help out with processing because you would have more accurate information. BHut what do I know? :D

Doesn't matter where he's currently living, OUTLAND for visa-exempt applicants is almost always the better/quicker choice.

In the inland CIC guide, it actually recommends people living inside Canada to apply outland to take advantage of quicker processing times for family class.
