inland Permanent Residence application while on visitor visa but want to study

Hi I wanted to know if it was possible to switch from a visitor visa to study visa while waiting for my permanent residence application to go through. I am a current student in Trinidad and I got 2 weeks off from school to visit my dad and make sure that my information for the form is accurate but I read that when the application is made within Canada, I might have to stay until the final decision is made on my application but I want to continue my studies and wouldn't mind transferring my credits to a new college
