You can be denied only if your health condition is likely to be a danger to public health/safety.
As a member of the family class you cannot be denied on the grounds that your condition might cause excessive demand on health or social services.

Thanks Sophieee! About to have my medical this week, never been to a doctor since I came to Canada. My body's been under so many adjustments with the weather and just the environment in general, so I hope I'm not sick of anything I'm not aware of :)

How can you expedite your first PR card without paying any extra fees for it at landing? CIC agents at landing has never accepted any extra fees for expediting your PR card. If this was available, every PR applicants landing will be paying to expedite their PR cards, especially those who plan to leave shortly after landing. I know I would pay the extra fees so my wife would get her PR card sooner.
I believe the reason there is no expedite option for new PR cards is because there's nothing to expedite.
They just need to wake up, roll over, print the card, then mail it. That's why there were days when the wait time for new cards was less than 30 days.

The work is already done. You're already qualified for the PR card. Landing means you're a PR, and there's literally absolutely nothing they have to do to give you your first PR card.
When it comes time for renewal you might have messed up and lost your status somehow, but for first time cards you are in-status at time of card application (landing) automatically.

I've been waiting 110 days for our PR card, and it's certainly a nuisance.
Even more so since we called up CIC and inquired if our card got lost in the mail, but apparently they're "processing" it right now, and we should get it by March.

Oh my goodness I hate Ottawa.

Seems odd for CIC to request this after DM.
We have not received a 'decision made' yet.

But we did receive a letter stating "It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence" along with a request for a police certificate.

We recently submitted the police certificate.

Ooops. Sorry about that.

When I read this, I thought you were already past the DM stage:

Thanks!
What was the deadline to submit the PCC on the letter that was emailed to you? You shouldn't expect to hear anything until that date has passed...and then some.

Hello!
We have been patiently waiting for our file to run its course through this VERY long process of inland sponsorship (I am sponsoring my Moroccan husband)...We sent our file May 2014, it was returned to us in August 2014 due to an expired form. The file was confirmed received again September 2014.
Fast forward to December 2015, we received emails and a letter advising we have both met the requirements for sponsorship, but a few supporting documents were needed by January 19, 2016.
We sent the documents via courier right away and last week my husband had a call from the Canadian embassy in Rabat, Morocco to go over a few details.
We are wondering if this date of January 19th means they will be making a decision soon?!

Thanks for any insight!

It's odd, it seems September/October 2014 applicants were skipped ahead for some reason, the community spreadsheet seems to reflect this too.

I don't think so.

My case is not odd just normal because when I applied PR, it took 16-17 months on the CIC website.

Well maybe not "odd", I've just been following the online spreadsheet and most Sept/October applicants were processed ahead of June/July/August applicants. It's nice to see people getting their PR, just curious why they skipped ahead. They haven't even started July yet but most Sept/Oct ones are done.
