Would love to know what school that is. Was it expensive for all the books? I am an American too. I took the Inland route knowing full well that it was the longest wait, but I've got a variety of reasons for doing so. Need to kill some time as well!
Penn Foster, it's completely self paced and the books are included in the tuition. I was able to get my last semester free.

Did anyone else notice the longass timeline bullet points on the processing times page which lists the parents + grandparents category updates?
I think they pulled the Inland staff to process those as the timeline matches the delay we have experienced. HOPEFULLY September will be our month...

Hi All,

Question regarding visitor record and ohip. I received my visitor record with "APR Pending" under the remarks section. When I checked this is what it means (I hope) -- "In all cases, the officer must input visible remarks on the WP, “APR Pending”. This remark, in addition to the Case Type code will ensure eligibility for continued health care coverage by the province or territory." (Reference: Operational Bulletin 485 – December 15, 2012 In CIC website) -- Does this mean I can now apply for OHIP? On OHIP's website, it says that a visitor can apply for OHIP so long as the applicant has the required documents. This is the exact statement -- CIC Immigration document such as a Work Permit, Visitor Record, Temporary Resident Permit or Study Permit with note in the “Remarks Section” that indicates that you have applied for permanent residence. -- Does anyone here have the same experience? I mean is there someone here who's in TRV who were able to apply for OHIP? I'm pregnant and badly need medical assistance so it would be great if our expenses will be covered by OHIP.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry OHIP won't accept that. I had the same issue on my wife's visitor record also. The remarks says PR sponsorship in process. They still won't accept that. You can try but I can say for sure that you will still get denied. AIP letter or DM letter are the only acceptable documentation to qualify for OHIP.

Even with the AIP email we still got denied. I had to write to OHIP review board to get my wife approved for OHIP.

That's strange. How come it is published on their website if it's not the process they follow? I called the hotline for Service Ontario before and the lady said I just need a document from CIC that I applied for PR. I'll go to SO tomorrow and keep you posted. I really hope they'll accept this.

The document she was referring to is the AIP that the IO will send to you stating that you are eligible. Without that, your application for OHIP will be denied.

No, not the AIP. I told her AIP takes a long time to be released. I asked for other options and she her exact words were "a letter from immigration which mentioned that I have applied for PR." Let's see how it goes tomorrow. I'm hopeful but I won't expect much. The mere fact that sponsorship and PR application takes forever to process, their system sucks. Taxpayers here don't get the proper treatment they deserve, just saying.

Ontario Service are quite strict about what documents they will accept. So I think you will be wasting your time at the office. Even the pamphet on the ohip eligibility list a specific document that states that you are qualified for PR sponsorship from CIC.

you have submitted an application for permanent residence in Canada, and Citizenship and Immigration Canada has confirmed that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence in Canada ;

If you look at the eligibility requirements, you will see this statement above.

They want confirmation from CIC that you are in fact qualify for PR. AIP letter and DM letter confirms this.

Yup, hopefully they'll give exemption to preggies. The gentleman in Service Ontario told me that there are also similar cases and i just need to call the hotline for options.
