Hello Guys I just have question about the new Pilot.

My hubby just applied for SCLPS last friday and they have receive the application today but unfortunately they have not include the OWP application. Can we apply it separately and send to vegrevile instead missasauga or we have to send it to missasuaga. They just received the courier today. Not sure where to send the OWP application as they haven't open the application yet nor received AOR.

Please advise me on this.

regards

Thanks Sophieee on the medical requirements.

My wife is currently on a TRV (visitor), which expires by end of Jan, 2015. Does that mean we now apply for OWP and will be under implied status after Jan while we waiting for work permit? I assume we no longer need to submit TRV visitor extension.

Thanks,
Tom

Yes, you will be on implied status, so no need to renew the TRV.

Quick help plz.
In application there are four option.
1a work permit with the same employer 2. An initial work permit or a work permit with new employer
3 restoration of your status as worker 4. Temporary resident permit.
Which two i have to select?

2. An initial work permit or a work permit with new employer

In the form they are asking to attach offer from employer. What we have to do with that section. Should i leave that section blank.

Don't leave it blank, put N/A to the name and address.

Applicants before Dec 22 should send their OWP to Vegreville, but you should need to prove that you have an application in process either with the AOR or with a print out from eCAS, so I don't know. You can try the call centre, maybe they can answer.

Thanks its works. Im gonna attach my AOR, VISITOR RECORD and marriage certificate along application.

Guys,

By reading some of your questions, seems like some of you are applying online. Is this the right way to do it? On the instruction, it is clearly indicating that you send the OWP application to the address in Vegreville.

In the application, section under details of intended work in Canada, I assume most of them you would have it put N/A, correct?

Thanks,
Tom

What happend if you select also "Temporary Resident" when I initially applied I selected both as it stated that you could select all that applied and since I was also attempting to extend the temporary visitor visa for my husband I selected that " Temporary Resident" as well...do you think that's ok?

I am having the same problem, not sure if we can extend the TRV, while applying for OWP.

When you get OWP, does it mean you are eligible for OHIP?

Hi all, just read the good news on the pilot program. Just read these specifications:
Qualifying foreign nationals who have submitted an application for permanent residence under the spouse or common-law partner in Canada (SCLPC) class.

Officers will issue open work permits to SCLPC applicants if they meet the following requirements:
a PR application has been submitted under the SCLPC class;
a Canadian citizen or permanent resident spouse has submitted a sponsorship application on their behalf;
the SCLPC applicant resides at the same address as the sponsor; and
the SCLPC applicant has valid temporary resident status (as a visitor, student or worker).
Case processing centres will ensure that the requirements are met and conduct a systems check to identify any adverse information on either the sponsor or the applicant that would render the applicant ineligible to receive an open work permit. If there is information that an applicant is inadmissible, their application for an open work permit will be refused.
Validity: These work permits will be valid for two years or until the date the SCLPC applicant's passport expires, whichever is earliest.
Additional Global Case Management System (GCMS) coding: use Special Program Code “SPO” (sponsored spouse or partner) and standard note “Pending FC APR” (to be entered in Remarks so it appears on the physical document).
In combination with LMIA exemption code A70 and NOC code 9999, this additional coding will allow CIC to capture and report on data specific to the issuance of open work permits to SCLPC applicants.
If a medical examination has not been completed, work permits should be open/occupation restricted.

My situation is that my passport expired December 15 2014, I did go to my embassy IN November and sent an application to renew but it takes 4 months to get, Does this mean I do not qualify for a OWP....???

Your OWP can be issued only for the time your passport is valid. So since you don't have a valid passport right now I think you need to wait till you get the new one.

I think the guide is clear:
Applicants who have already submitted an application for permanent residence under the SCLPC class but have not yet applied for an open work permit should complete an Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker (PDF, KB) (PDF, 452.86 KB) form [IMM 5710], include the appropriate fee, indicating that they are applying for an open work permit, and submit it to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville, at the following address:

If an SCLPC applicant has already received approval in principle, they have the option of applying for an open work permit online.

If you don"t have your AIP you can only apply via paper and not online. Note, that the address for this kind of applications is different than the standard address for OWP applications, maybe a different staff will be responsible for these.

And I sent the following:
- an explanation letter about my situation
- IMM 5710 application
- IMM 5556 checklist
- copy of AOR
- print out from my eCAS
- print out from the Program delivery update
- the receipt
- copy of marriage certificate
- copy of passport and visa
- copy of proof of medical
