My husband landed yesterday and we are now just waiting on the PR card which currently says 26 days processing time.

At the landing interview they put a lot of emphasis on the "confirmation of permanent residence form", stating that the form has to be kept in its original condition in order to receive a canada pension, among many other things. The woman indicated that it couldn't be laminated, copied, nothing. Also, that you cannot get a replacement if this one is lost. When we left, we thought that was quite weird. A little piece of paper determines whether or not you receive canada pension etc. What if your house burns down and the paper along with it?... I just don't understand how you can lose a passport and get another, a birth certificate and get another, your pr card and get another, but can't lose an immigration document confirming your permanent resident status?

Anyone else know anything about this? Because if this is the case, I guess we better get a fire proof lock box.

It is true that this will be your only original copy of landing record. However if in the case of it being lost, misplaced or destroyed, you can request a record of landing. This is called verification of status. This is not a CoPR, but a document that proved you landed as PR on a specific date. You can use this "verification of record landing" to get Canada pension, old age pension, etc etc.

Website says that they are processing Sept 12th applicants.

I'm nervous, looking at the excel spreadsheet, everyone before and after me has had some communication with the CIC - request proof of cohabitation, updated passport, proof of relationship, medicals, police cert....

but we haven't heard anything... i hope they haven't lost our file lol

You might need to fill up a pre-landing paper first and send it back to them before getting the interview date. Congrat for your DM.

it's very normal in order to attend the school u will need a study permit
