Hey everyone,

I checked the CIC processing times chart today and it shows the last update was October 15, 2014 with 'working on applications received August 2, 2013.' Yesterday I swore it was last updated on October 22, 2014 with 'working on applications received August 8, 2013.'
Am I wrong or did someone else see the same yesterday???

Ah okay... are they the one who's gonna send it to the immigration? And another think I checked the CIC website to check the update on the ecas and it says under the Sponsorschip Application status is Decision Made what does it mean?

Hi, I'm going to be out of the country for 13 days from November 1st to the States. I'm from Visa exempted country and waiting for AIP since September 2013. I'm traveling with my sponsor/husband. Is there anything I need to bring? Thank you.

SS.Kingston said:
Yes. CIC says they don't recommend that you travel outside of Canada. However, many people have done it (as long as you return within a very short period of time), including myself. It hasn't caused any problems in our processing.

But I applied for a one-entry TRV just to show that it is not my intention to frequently leave the country while waiting for DM. I was only gone for 12 days and had no problem getting back into the country.

It means that the phase 1 is over (decision made because you received AIP and the sponsor was approved). Now, we have to wait for a decision made in relation to the phase 2.

Do you think they posted our work permit on Friday ?

i really don't have any idea. I really wanted to have my open work permit coz I would really love to work already. didn't see any updates on my OWP i read a while ago that in the AIP includes a statement that they are processing on OWP. But mine doesnt have any.

My letter doesnt have also a mention that they are processing an OWP for me. But I think they are for 2 reasons:

1) usually the standard letter says "... now you apply for a work permit or study permit" ... if ours dont have this info, I think it is because they are already processing them ...

2) i paid 1040 in total and i didnt include the OWP fee. However, they alocated 150 from the RPRF and I had to pay again 490 (they will give a refund of 340) ... in other words, they used part of my money already paid to process the OWP (i sent all owp application, I just didnt pay the fee because i thought it wasnt necessary).

SO I think they are processing them. I they didnt, there would be a mention in our letters like the one previously mentioned.

I'm curious

Once my common-law partner has AIP and her OWP, can she leave the country and come back without problems??? what would she show the border guard? her AIP email, OWP, and passport? or is it advised that she not leave the country until DM?

It is advisable to not leave until DM but she is still able to leave Canada at any time. It's the ability to get back into Canada upon re-entry. If you have confidence that she won't get denied, by all means leave for vacation.

You have nothing to fear but fear itself.

If you want to go on vacation I think you'll be fine but I wouldn't make a habit of leaving the country. My partner and I went on vacation before AIP and had zero problems re-entering. Be prepared to AIP email and OWP. Always have your passport!

From CIC website

Look under heading 'Live-in caregiver or spouse or common-law partner in Canada cases'

I'm currently awaiting AIP and have an Alberta drivers license and Alberta Health Care. I was able to get both because I applied for temporary residency. You need to show the documentation of temporary residency and hand in your old drivers license from your country in order to get one here.
Thanks jmarie. What do you mean by applying for temporary residency? Did you simply extend your visitor permit here in Canada? Also, were you from one of the countries with a reciprocal licensing agreement? (Listed in the link below)

I extended my visitor's permit for the second time and they gave me two years. I have had 1 year class 7 gdl and currently class 5 after road test. So, all you need is marriage license and valid visitor's permit and you are good to go.
