well then you can always write to them and ask them why they are requesting the report if instructions say consecutive, not total. or you can comply with the request.

no i have no idea about the owp.

And you too Daizey!! :)

I'm confused, do you actually have AIP or are you having to wait for that Quebec paper thing??

I am pretty sure I am going to end up being the last one for the month of August still waiting for AIP because of our issues....BUT I am sooooooooooo soooooooo hoping that they are just in such a rush to catch up the processing times that they just give us our AIP...

Anyways there is NO reason I should not be approved as a sponsor, so I think we could get our AIP at least on time? I don't mind waiting for DM if they have to review my husbands record in the US.....

why she will lose her pre-pr day ? doesn't just need to be 4 years will be ok ? don't need to be land as pr then stay for 6 years then check have 4 years or not
She will lose her pre-PR days because by the time she qualify for citizenship under the current rules (jan 2016) which includes her Pre-PR days, the new 4 / 6 year rule would be in effect since June/July 2015. So she would have to wait until July 2017 to apply for citizenship to qualify.

Hi all,
I am new to the forum (but have been reading it for a while). I am from the US and my husband is Canadian.
Our inland application was received Aug. 09, 2013, AOR 8/21/13.

I also am concerned about police clearance stuff because at the time I applied the US guide said
police clearances were needed for countries lived in for only the past 10 years. That guide was revised in Aug. 2014.
Although I know the rules apply based on the rules at the time of application, but still concerned. I attempted
to get the clearance but because of the more than decade old nature of it I was told by the consulate that I
would have to hire a lawyer in that country to get the clearance for me, sign a power of attorney, blah blah.
I am praying for mercy from CIC and for a quick approval now that they are working on August applicants.

Welcome! :)
You should hopefully be getting your AIP any day now, as our Aug 9th applicants already on the spreadsheet got their approvals yesterday! :)

What did they revise the guide to in Aug 2014??

It should be any country lived in for more than 6 months in the past 10 years, or since the applicant turned 18, which ever comes first.

If it was more than 10 years ago, and you were older than 18, you do not have to worry about a record check from there.

CIC have been known to require PCC from countries where the applicant has spent a significant amount of time, even if it wasn't consecutive. They can ask for pretty much whatever they want. Consider the checklist as representing the minimum...

I am checking email constantly in great hope, but somehow feel like the impossible girl (but not in a good way).
I would love love love for the "no worrying if it was more than 10yrs ago" rule to be applied for me and to get approved today.
The guide 5099 now shows and update of Aug. 2014 and removed the "in the last 10 years" phrase.
I was in the Peace Corps so I lived abroad for just over 2 yrs. I hope they can give this girl the benefit of the doubt for my service.
Refresh, refresh refresh.

So now they want everyone's history since they were 18?!???????? That is ridiculous!!!! Then again, none of us here ever accused CIC of being reasonable :p lol

Unfortunately, I don't have AIP yet. I have to wait for the CSQ from Quebec. My husband checked with them yesterday and they said the max it will take them to mail their copy to CIC would be 25 business days once they receive our forms. So hopefully by the beginning of December we'll finally have AIP. I'm super bummed I'm not able to celebrate right now, but at least they are actually working on ours, and I was aiming to start looking for work at the beginning of next year anyway. :) Our lawyer doesn't think there will be a problem with us visiting my family for Christmas, since we'll have paperwork stating that our file is in process, so I'm really hoping we'll still be able to see them soon!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that your AIP goes through smoothly. :)

The Western Europe checklist has had the "from the age of 18" requirement since at least 2012. It seems odd that inland applications should be subject to less scrutiny..

Well, of course now I can't find the right guide, but I cut and pasted that language in my notes last year, with a
link to the old guide . Now the link goes to a guide updated this year.

From: cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp from 2013

You and your family members, who are 18 years of age and older and are not permanent residents or Canadian citizens, must provide a:
• valid police certificate, or
• police clearance, or
• record of no information.
Provide these documents for each country other than Canada in which you and your family members have lived for more than six (6) months consecutively during the past ten (10) years. If you or your family members were under 18 years of age when you lived there, you do not need to provide a police certificate.

I also confirmed with a lawyer, although that may not be worth much.
