Sooooooooooo in a perfect world...this god damn mother beepin piece of poop strike will end in a couple weeks with arbitration settling it...all the workers will come back with more energy and excitement because they got a raise and will work extra hard to make up lost time, and Vegreville will fly through applications at record setting speeds and everyone that applied by May will get their AIPs by end of August!!!!

But in the real world, the strike will linger until October, the workers will get a measily raise so they will come back and be slower than ever to make us angry, the October 8th 2013 will somehow change to October 8th 2012 as they will have found some old applications from back then that they need to do first...and none of us will get AIP and our beloved OWP.

Rant over, hope you enjoyed it =)

French has been VERY hard for me (and my bilingual husband left three weeks after the move, and I was alone up here for 4.5 months, haha), but I'm finally starting to get a bit of a base. There's a free full-time French program for immigrants available through the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications (I'm sure I messed up an accent or a preposition or an article in that name) here in Québec that I *should* qualify for after I get AIP, at least.

I'm so sorry that you were not able to join friends and family to grieve when you lost those close to you. :( Choosing this road DEFINITELY has some challenges and sadness. I just try to remember that the days will continue to march by, and someday this will be in the past.

Ouch yeah I can see that being a challenge! Very brave of you to do. I'm sure once you start having a conversation they will correct you if you're wrong pronouncing it (those tongue twisters) hehe :)

That's very true.. Thinking about it too much makes the clock go slower for sure. But holy moly I can't wait for this all to end so we all can live life as it was. - I definitely need a trip home to Denmark to see my family and friends and get a little sense of home again :)

So you applied it Jan/Feb 2013 & still no word I though the first stage was like 6 months ?
It seem like the have been working Oct 8th 2012 applicants for ever!
Do you guys thinks it will change after Oct 25th 2012 applicants when the rules changed ?

FYI Inland applications are not affected by the strike. They are just slow due to employees going away during the summer and the new rules being in effect starting 25th October 2012..

^ I kinda find it hard to believe that a new rule and some summer holidays is keeping the applications on one date for 3-4 months (I lost track). I feel like the strike must be slowing the process down in some regard.

Hi guys,
Well is not that the agents from the call center are people that we can relay on... but hubby and I called yesterday (two different calls) on this matter (october 8th that is getting us insane!) and both agents said that they were rushing up and we will hear from them on our file (march 4th) in mid-october. I know we cannot thrust them totally and I know they cannot tell us when our file will be check, but the agents told us the "projection" of the year..so... lets just hope that at least the "we're rushing" part, is true.
God bless and Good luck!

What is the new rules being in effect from Oct, 25 2012?

I guess they are refering to the "conditional permanent residence" rule, for all applications after october 25th, 2012.

I am feeling soooooo sad and discouraged :( :(. My application was received 6 months and 9 days ago and still they are working on October the 8th. Not sure if 500 000 people applied on the 8th of October 2012, because surely I don't understand how they can be stuck on that date for months and months. I feel CIC should change the processing time on the website from six months to whatever so that we know when to expect a response from them.

Today makes exactly 9 months for me; and nothing's forthcoming. Willing to wait another 3 months. By then we can start drinking alcohol and get mad and madder and super madder

Doesn't make sense that the new rules would cause a slow down, if anything it should help. I don't believe there was a great influx of applications on Oct 8. there has to be another reason .
