"You can do your medical before submission to avoid any delays. We did this as well!" - I still do not get it. Doctor says they send it right to the Ottawa and do not give me any copies. What should I enclose into the package then? What proof?
See OB 471, which describes the new process. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob471.asp

IMM 1017B is the "Upfront Medical Report: Client Biodata and Summary"

And from the new Panel Physician's Handbook (DRAFT Excerpt):

Page 2 must be provided to the client for submission to CIC along with the visa application.
That is, Page 2 of IMM 1017B. However, it appears that an eMedical-enabled clinic does not use the IMM 1017B. In that case, they should be able to give you your UMI number.

Change of status ( to Temp Resident Visa) can be found on the same IMM 5556 form.. check both boxes and be sure to pay both fees.
- What do you mean by that? I was thinking just send main application + OWP to get implied status. My visitor record is valid till Feb'06. I hope to do only OWP..isn't it enough?
There are three different options for temporary resident status:

- A visitor record (that's the form described in your quoted text)
- A work permit (that's the open work permit application you indicated you submitted)
- A study permit (that's the other option you didn't mention)

Any one of these establishes legal status for you to be in Canada. As long as ONE of them is submitted with an inland PR application, you have implied status.

Computergeek and anyone who could give me some enlightenment pls.

I have been worried about our appplication, how come when i check on ecas it still says application received on June 7 but the people who sent their application later than mine especially the july applicants got their AOR and can even see when is their application started to process?

Do you think is something wrong with our application? I am really worried and can't sleep at night. :( :( :( :(

Hi Weary-damsil;

Don't worry - I know it is easier said than done! I am guessing you have called the helpdesk? Keep checking the processing times and the minute it jumps to June - I wuold keep calling CIC until they have provided a sufficient answer. I know this is of little help to you as of now, but don't stress out - you are in the system. You will have an answer shortly.

I recieved my AOR earlier this week. When I went online to check to see if there is anything showing yet it asked me for name, birthdate and place of birth.

Are they meaning the applicant or the sponsor?

Maybe your VO is away on parental leave for a month? :D

Applications do not proceed at the same pace within CIC; I'm not sure why but it would be consistent with multiple disjoint queues (sorry, my math geek background is coming out as I think of this in terms of queue theory). That means that each application gets put in one of a selection of piles. Some piles move faster than others, but over time the average time should be the same.

It's like getting stuck in the slow checkout lane at the supermarket.

Hi all:

This what I think is happening:

As you know, when you send the application there is a part for the sponsor and a PR application for the sponsored, meaning CIC consider it as two different applications. When they open the package they start processing ONLYthe sponsor part and during all this process if the sponsor login he/she will see under sponsorhip application that application for sponsorship is in process and under PR application will see only that the application for PR was received.

When the sponsored person login they do not have access to the sponsor part, so they will se only Application received. That is what is happening in my case: the information is different if I login as sponsor or my husband as sponsored. Does that make sense?

"Inland has the downside that it's generally not advised that your spouse travels while you are waiting for your processing because it is a requirement of inland that they reside in Canada and if they are denied entry at the border for some reason, your application is gone."

If my application is being processed, but I still have a valid visitors visa, is it okay to leave and re-enter the country before the visa expires, or should I be on the safe side and just stay here? (I'd love to go home for Christmas!)

If this can reassure you, I never received my AOR ...
Yet I have my landing interview next week (I applied a year ago)
I also panicked for the longest time, but breathe and be patient, it'll be alright

You will be subject to normal scrutiny at the border, just like any time you enter with a valid visa. Unless something has happened (e.g., a criminal inadmissibility) you are unlikely to be refused - but there's always a risk. If you cannot resolve the grounds for the refusal, eventually your inland application will be terminated (you can't demonstrate you were living with your sponsor, which makes you ineligible for inland processing). You'd have to have a very nasty BSO to refuse you entry without any basis.

They don't always send AOR. It seems a bit random, honestly. If you haven't heard anything after 6 months have gone by, then you can start to get concerned. Hopefully you kept a copy of the application and have a copy of a signed receipt it arrived in Vegreville - just to be safe.

I did not get AOR either. And people that applied after me got it. But I am not worried, on Nov 1 my e-CAS started showing that my application was received (I used for login my old client ID from many years ago).

Did you have a client ID already with CIC? I am guessing they don't send AOR when people have already a way to login into eCAS.....

Thank you all for giving such words of encouragement.. I will try not to worry and will just look at the bright side of life. after all,as what my husband said we are still lucky enough to see the progress of the processing times. and one more thing,i will not keep on calling CIC since i am also not lucky in getting a nice and kind agent to answer my queries. Let's be more patient and have faith,it will come when it's your time.:)

Yes I did, with the package. I also had to do another one to extend my visa, so, I think they have two! haha.
