Hey folks

It's great to see everybody's progress, I'll share mine :)

I'm a UK citizen married to a Canadian (Aug 28th 2010)

CIC recieved my application on May 14th 2012. I receieved my AOR by email on Sept 8th 2012. I then recieved my AIP by email as a PDF on October 18th . I didn't apply for OWP with PR app. I have done so now as of October 20th and I'm just waiting, 63 long days :)

I have an appointment on November 28th for my medical and hoping it won't take too long after that. I'm assuming they won't conduct security and background checks until receipt of my medical, I can only hope they've commenced the security part??? I'm assuming they don't expend those resources until the medical checks out.

I wish everybody well and will keep you all updated.

Hi Mate,

I just updated myself in your sheet.
I hope you are ok with it?

Can we apply SIN card, Health card and driving licence with AIP?
I read a few people did and they got it. Can you please confirm it?

Thanks alot.

You need the open work permit for that.

Heath coverage depends upon the province. Ontario is the stingiest and requires you wait until AIP. AB, BC, NS, PEI, and SK all have coverage while you are living with your spouse in Canada, although with varying qualifications.

Driving licences depend upon province as well, not sure what is required by each province. SIN cards require a work permit.

Hello folks,

I applied for my wife and child, and the application was received on the 19th of July. Today, I got my AOR. My question is, when we get AOR, does that mean they accepted the application and it is complete? I did not submit my T4 slip, and gave an explanation about why I didn't submit it. I was afraid that they might send back the application as incomplete, if the officer is in a bad mood. After receiving AOR, does that mean the application has been accepted and will not be sent back? Thanks

No. An acknowledgement of receipt merely acknowledges they received your application. It does not mean that your application has been approved, or that the VO might not request additional information.

I am not asking if it has been approved. Some people here said that they send back and return incomplete applications, and then you have to re-join the queue once you resubmit. I wanted to know if I have passed that stage.

Thats great news.. Last week it went up to 6 months and now it seems like it is 4 months.. What a difference a week makes..

I would love to get an email from them before Christmas saying they have at least opened my application.. Though mine was sent in at the beginning of October.. Heres hoping :)
It looks that it is 6 months for AIP but AOR is taking around 4 to 5 months.

No, they will still look at your application and can ask for additional docs. You will have to send and they will put it together with your application, it may delay it but you don't have to go in line again.
You only know that you are approve and they don't need anything whrn you get AIP.

Hi everybody!

We sent our application in June and they received June 15th, my husband got an email October 17th where confirm the receipt (AOR) and the October 18th got an email that said they start to process our application October 16th and ask to proceed with Quebec... They don't ask for nothing more in that letter (just to send the undertaking application and the CSQ), so that's good news for us?

Good luck to all in this process ;)
hi, we have almost the same timeline.I sent out my application on June 07th and they received on June 11st. We got the email on October 16Th.Now we have to wait for them to look on our application, although I don't know in QUebec.

Good luck.
