Thanks Line.a, munah, and hockeyfan! Et merci, Tomorisu!

OMG! Don't hate me - I just got the DM letter! 30 August 2013 - Decision made! I'm sweating, shaking, and crying! Looks like I may be able to take that vacation to Spain that my father-in-law already booked for all of us in March.

Dear Terence at CIC - I would TOTALLY KISS YOU ON THE MOUTH if I was in Vegreville right now!

Screech, no, I didn't send OWP. Most anglophone citizens can't even find work up here, so it wasn't worth it for us.

So what's next? The letter says the Montréal Centre will be contacting me about my PR status. That's for a landing appointment, right?

That's right. I forgot you mentioned this issue about english speakers unable to find work in quebec. Makes no sense to apply.

That aside, that's wonderful news that you got DM. I will update timesheet asap. :)

Congratulations QuebecOkie. Glad to see we are finally moving on the AIP and DM. for us at the end of the year

This is very exciting I couldn't even imagine how happy you are right now! That's pretty quick then isn't it - for getting DM so all you need now is the landing interview? :)

Nice!

Isn't it painful that Vegreville is so damn close yet so damn slow!

Well, they should be speeding up. I don't think there is much going on now (fair and festival season is over) till oct then it's hello garlic festival!

Thank you for your info.

I think your interview is a just part of the process for your landing,
not questioning the genuine of your marriage.

Good luck to you.

Wow! Good for you!

You got AIP & DM at the same time!

Wow, this seems like quite the sudden flurry of activity. Congrats to everyone getting good news.
Maybe hope for us 2013'ers that the slowdown in Vegreville is being finally and rapidly addressed...

Thanks Tomorisu, Screech, Nigea, Line.a, and lsj2767!

I've called my mom, messaged my best friend, and am waiting for my sis to message me to say she's done at the gym so I can call her.

Hopefully this is the start of a general speed-up at CIC, and the fall 2012 applicants and early 2013 applicants will all start getting good news soon!!! *fingers crossed*

I see that you got a 4.5 hour roadtrip to get to the landing office in Montreal. I suspect you plan to stay in montreal the day before landing, stay overnight and attend the office the next day.

Most likely. My brother-in-law lives in downtown Montreal, so I might just see if I can crash on his couch. After 10 months with nothing, this is totally surreal.

The landing interview is the last stage (final interview) of getting a PR. You will get a COPR at the office. After that you have finally "landed" as PR.

They are not the same. Approval in principle means that the applicants qualify for PR sponsorship. That's the 1st stage. The second stage consist of medical/police check before completing the application (DM stage). They remain the same. Its the timing between AIP and DM that can change so wildly. Some people get AIP and DM at same time. Other people gets AIP and still wait up to 8 months or more before getting DM.

AIP is stage one (sponsor evaluation) approval. DM is stage two (applicant evaluation) approval. CIC's listed times (we all know how accurate THOSE are!) estimate 6 months for stage one approval, and 8 months for stage two approval. That's the time in which 80% of applications are processed. So some are much faster, and some are much slower, but 80% of applications reach DM within 14 months.
