One question on generic application is current country of residence. In "From" box, I put the date I entered Canada. What do I put in "To" box? the date my visitor period is over?

Thanks!

Hi freshman,

for FROM i put the date when i arrived to Canada. TO - the date I'm supposed to leave according to my Visitor Record. (i was granted 6 months)
When you validate the form it will work.

You can do either way, but in order to avoid any delays in the processing of your application, CIC suggests that you submit it all right away.

Confrentis - yes I will do the same thing then. I tried to put "Present" in "To" box and it wouldn't validate. Thanks for your reply!

Yea I don't think it's a big deal. CIC knows what's going on.

Dear all knowing forum,

I hope someone can help on this, not a major issue just something I am wondering about! I posted a while back that my wife and I were going to be moving provinces (from Ontario to PEI to be exact) early next year. I know that I should inform CIC sooner rather than later and we will be forwarding all our mail for the maximum allowed period but just wondering if anyone can point out any potential hiccup that this move might cause CIC? When I originally posted on this topic a while back I was giddy with excitement regarding my medicals showing up on Ecas and thought that I would surely be through this whole process when the time of the move comes along! However as the move draws closer - I am not as confident, hopeful yes, but confident - not so much!

Anyhow like I say, nothing that I am too worried about - the move will go ahead regardless! LOL :D. But if the forum has any opinion on it please share.

Thanks and regards,

Hope everyone enjoys the festive season and we all get what we are waiting for from CIC!!!

Hi CanEd!

As long as you tell CIC your new address it shouldn't be a problem, but tell them right away. We moved and it took FOREVER for our address to be updated in the system (in the end we had to call them and have it done via email as the automatic update just wasn't working). Also, forwarding your mail with Canada Post may not help with making sure you get all your mail. Because of the potential for identity theft (I believe) not all government mail is forwarded and visa stuff is not forwarded. My student visa renewal was returned to CIC for this reason.

Good luck with the move

I just want to double check before sending the documents. In the Spouse questionnaire the question number 6 is " Was your marriage arranged?"
I 'm telling the whole process of my wedding organisation. Is it what they ask?
thanx a lot

Hi,
Pls I need help to get this sorted out. I came to Canada in 2006 as a Student on Study Permit and I did not get done school yet so I applied for OCWP and was working since beginning of last year, I got married to my wife who is Canadian in January before my OCWP expired in Sept, I tried applying for an Open Work Permit to keep working since I was not in school I could not apply for OCWP, but Work Permit was denied I was told to reapply again with LMO and restore my status and my company wont apply LMO for me because they say my position can easily be filled with a Canadian I cant go back to school yet cant really afford it, so my wife is going to sponsor me on Family Class PR, but which office do I send my application to, am Nigerian and here in Canada I was given 90 days to restore my status and apply for a permit, but we want to apply for the PR Family Class, will it work this way ?? Which office do I send my application to, the Canadian office in Missauagua or the office in Los Angeles, What do I do, Pls I need help!!!! Pls thanks a lot.

In your situation, you want to file an inland application. Those are submitted to CPC-V (Vegreville). Outland applications are submitted to CPC-M (Mississauga). Those are the only two locations to which you send a sponsored spousal application as a general rule (if you are applying in the H&C class sponsored, you'd submit to BRO-V (Vancouver) but that's VERY unusual.)

You should also apply for an open work permit with your inland application. This will ensure that you can remain in Canada and regain status.

Good luck!

Hi! I'm a newbie here :D

I've seen some successful cases here, gives me some hope!
I have a question, currently I'm on Post grad working permit expires on March 3rd.
My application was received on Oct 9, Can I still apply for OWP?

Thanks!

Sure. But at this point you won't get an open work permit until after your current permit expires.

Thanks for the reply "computergeek" my wife is applying for the sponsorship for me and I will send my the open work permit application with the PR application, so for my open work permit will I need an LMO for it, where do I get the forms for the open work permit, do I also need to pay for the fees for my status restoration as well when I send the application in.

Thanks
