Just right after I hung up the phone with CIC who asked me to call back after seven months, I got an email of my letter saying that my final stage has been finalized. I am happy!

Sure. Time never stops!

Congratulations to those with applications from 2011 who have recieved AIP and PR. I applied for sponsorship and PR for my spouse in October of 2011. To date we are still waiting for word on stage 1 AIP. I contacted CIC and was given the same answers which tell you absolutely nothing. I contacted Jason Kenney's office and was told that "Canada is under attack from dishonest people from Eastern Europe" and that the long delay is my fault because I married someone from Eastern Europe and applied for sponsorship and PR with my spouse in Canada, and that only in extreme and, or special circumstances can a person apply for sponsorship and PR within Canada. Interesting because it does NOT state this anywhere on the CIC website...I contacted my MP and within 4 days learned the following:

1. Why was the file transferred to CIC Calgary?

This file was transferred from CPC Vegreville to CIC Calgary because Vegreville was unable to reach a decision in this case. The reason obtained was the Immigration Officer was not convinced that the marriage requirement had been satisfied. This is not to say that they concluded that you were not married, only that they were not satisfied that you were indeed married.

2. What is the standard processing expectation at the current time?

The file was received at CIC Calgary in September of 2012, and this file is estimated to be reviewed in March of 2014.

WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!! >:(

I would be very grateful for any input, advice or suggestions from Computergeek or anyone else who has found themselves in a similar situation...

2.5 YEARS just to get an interview (though my best guess is they will grant AIP if they are satisfied at that point). That seems to be beyond the pale. However, that seems to be the standard MO for the current governmental approach. Your options would thus seem to be:

(1) Wait until March 2014;
(2) Hire an attorney and go to Federal Court and see Mandamus.

(1) is not a great options; (2) isn't much better and I'm not sure if it would be effective (2.5 YEARS for an interview seems against natural fairness to me, but what do I know?) Bottom line is that this really suggests they aren't staffing local offices at the necessary level to provide reasonable service.

Have you considered providing additional/supplemental information to support the authenticity of your relationship? If the evidence is strong enough, a visa officer could review it and decide that an interview isn't necessary. Again, I'm not sure it will matter at this point - I suspect nothing you do other than obtain an external level (which is what option 2 does) will speed up the process.

Hello! I am a 2010 applicant and just like you our file was transferred to a local office -Cic Edmonton in October 2011.. The waiting time in CIC Edmonton is 24 months... I'm on my 18th month now going to 19th of waiting!. Since the transfer we submitted more proof and documents that our marriage is genuine and is continuous.

Our file has red flags as what they call it which to us is no big deal..

1. Our age gap is the number 1 factor..
2. I'm from a 3rd world country
3. we have different religion.. I am a catholic and he is a Mormon.

We sent them letters and tons of proof that these differences doesn't affect our marriage at all. We also sent them things that show what we have in common...

If you can also send them more proof of your marriage and that it is continuous...that would be great!

Good luck with everything!

Is it safe to give them all our details on this website?

The person who built it is a member of the community actually. Of course, in the end you need to decide if the risk is worth it. For me (and many others) the risk that someone might find the status of my application doesn't rank high on the risk scale.
