Hi ! Got mail today. AIP and work permit.
Letter dated 25th Feb 2012
Posted 27th Feb 2012

Now that I have work permit. Do I need to get a Social Insurance Number ? If so how do I go about getting one ? What happens next?

2 letters arrived:

1 - to the sponsor... "this refers to the application........ "you have met the requirements...

2 - to the applicant ... "it has been determined that you net the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent resident status as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. However, a final decision will not b e made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks for you and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they are not applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident until you and all your family members have met these requirements...."
After this says he can apply for OWP or study permit and some more comments non interesting...

No request for any extra info, or redo medicals or police records...

Both letters are dated Feb 26th. They are generic letters (we have no dependents and applied as spouse)

Still hoping that "decision made" on e-cass means is all done and on the next couple of weeks we will get some other letter...
At least OWP and OHIP for now is a good start!!!!

Good look to everybody, this is no over yet!!!!

Finally I got my "client ID" and for the first time I was able to log under "the sponsor name"
This is what shows under my name.

Thank youuuuuu!!!! That's what I think and hope, but for the moment we have to get OHIP, SIN and OWP...

Depending on your Province, you might be able to get also Health card...

And... time to go back to work!!!!!

This is my first time in this forum, I am so happy to see everyone here with same situation.
I just got AIP on Monday and work permit today. I applied for OHIP yesterday and they said i will receive it in the next 6-8 weeks.

App sent on Nov 25, 2010
We received your application for permanent residence on December 6, 2010.

We started processing your application on January 24, 2011.

Medical results have been received.

We transferred your application to the Barrie office on November 2, 2011
Interview on Feb 2, 2012
AIP on Feb 24, 2012
work permit Feb 28, 2012

They said i have to wait for 4-6 months for background check....
hope time move faster....

Congratulations on getting your paperwork. And welcome to the Forum, It is a great way to stay up to date with others in our same situation.

And your right it seems to take a very long time, but at least we now have the work permit.

Got off the phone with the nicest cic agent!!!!!

Feb 28th final decision was made.... Letter for landing instructions is due to arrive some time next week!!!!!!!!!!
(or whenever... blame it to the Post office)

Yes, you can call... even thought "application received" is not a bad start.

I've been around over a year, and there's 2 things I can confimr:

E-cass is allways behind (never up to date).

If you call CIC and are not happy with the answer.
Hang up, call again, until you find a helpful agent that will look into your file instead of repeating what the web says

Maybe shorter than you think.... we have the same dates... you might have your second stage approved...
