I am a Canadian citizen, sponsoring my american husband under spouse, from within canada, but we are not sure what fees to pay?
Would it be under family class or canada class?
We have a Canadian citizen daughter who is 2 months old, will we need to pay anything for her as well?

Ok so we payed the fees, specifically my husband. do we fill out both of our details on the paper or just his details?
also do we use our current address or his home address in the states?

Re: Fees? which do I pay for? please respond asap

There are three fees which need to be paid for the processing of your application:

1. Sponsorship fee - $75
2. Immigrant fee - $475
3. Right of Permanent Residence fee - $490

The last fee of $490 it the only one you can pay later on, when requested by the VO, but it is strongly recommended that this fee is paid up front as well because later on it could delay your application by a couple of months.

You don't need to pay anything for your daughter because she is not immigrating. Assuming that your daughter is either born in Canada or already has Proof of Canadian Citizenship certificate, she only needs to be included in IMM5406 (which a document your husband needs to fill out).

The application will be under Family Class.

Of course, besides those fees mentioned above, there are others: medical exam fee (price depends on where your husband will take the exam, but expect a couple of hundred $), translations (if some documents aren't in English of French), notarized copies, etc.

In the fee list, select Family Class (Spouse or common-law partner, adopted children and other member of family). You don't pay anything for your child.

My husband payed for the fees and is staying with me, do we fill in his info under payer info? Or both of ours?

Just fill in the payer's info. They need that info in case of over-payment or in case some of the fees are reimbursed (when the sponsor is found ineligible, they return the rest of the fees).

Wow, now you have me worried. We held off on paying the Right of Permanent Residence Fee. I sure hope that doesn't mean we will be delayed by months :(

CIC recommends in the guide that the RPRF be paid along with the other fees to reduce the processing time. When CIC has to request something, such as the RPRF or additional documents, it does usually delay the app.

You can choose to pay the RPRF now so that CIC doesn't have to request it from you.

They usually give you 60 days to comply with their request (when they request additional documents or fees). Even if you send the fee as soon as you receive their letter, it is very possible that they will check your application for the requested documents after the 60 days have elapsed. So it would be a couple of months till they look at it again. They can't continue processing without the missing documents/fees.

You can do what canuck suggested, pay the fee now and send it without waiting for them to requested.

Thanks, it is now on my to do list for tomorrow :)
