Hi all,

Going to be applying to sponsor my wife later this month. I am wondering about one thing. Her father hasn't been around for about nine years now. He left and hasn't come back. She's tried to get a birth certificate for him but can't for whatever reason. Does she need to list her father on the application? If she doesn't how much of an issue will this pose?

There is no need for a birth certificate for the father. Only the principal applicant and dependents (if there's any). The father, though, must be listed ONLY on form IMM 5406. And for the address she can just write "unknown" and probably attach a short explanation why "unknown" for the address.
