Hi there,

I am very new to this forum, and want to ask a few questions. I am Permanent resident of Canada and want to sponsor my spouse to Canada.
1. Can i call my wife on open work permit while i sponsor her.
2. or is it better to sponsor my wife from my home country and wait while her application is processed.

What other options do i have to sponsor my wife and call her to Canada in short time? (that she is with me in Canada in short time)

Thanks in advance.

This information really depends on your wife's home country. Is she from a visa-required country?

She can apply for a TRV to visit Canada. Once she is here you can submit an inland application to sponsor her, and with this apply for a work permit.

It is difficult to get a TRV, so you can also sponsor her outland. She can stay in India. Because you are a PR, you will have to stay in Canada during the sponsorship process.

Outland is generally much faster than inland. It is often recommended to apply outland even if the applicant does get a TRV and is in Canada. She will not get a work permit, but can stay with you as a visitor.

Thanks a lot for your information and clearing my doubt. just another quick question that if she applies trv before marriage and comes to Canada, later on we get married in court here in Canada and applies inland application here; based on that she applies open work permit.

Yes, that could work. She would send in the application for the work permit with the inland application.
